Overview

The Diabetes Connectathon Challenge for high school students is a 9+ week student-driven hands-on learning experience that combines teamwork, industry mentorship and a high-tech digital health toolkit.

The Digital Health Collaborative is proud to partner with the City of Beaverton and the Health and Science School to provide students with an opportunity to develop connected health solutions that inspire teenage diabetics to take control of their disease every single day.

The Diabetes Connectathon Challenge provides students with team-based projects to solve the biggest problems facing diabetic care and management.

We believe student learning is enhanced when kids explore what’s happening outside the classroom, so we created a learning environment that is based on solving real-world challenges.

This first-of-its-kind event is designed to provide high school students with an insider’s view on the unique health challenges diabetic patients face and how the solutions their teams create might make a real difference in how patients manage their disease.

How can my team use technology to improve lives? With access to the latest technologies, students will use a multi-disciplinary approach to create solutions involving Mason tablets, blood pressure cuffs, weight scales, pillbox, graphene patch to monitor glucose and hydration, Microsoft Azure, Power BI and Chatbots.

Students will present their solutions and ideas to family, teachers, industry leaders and policymakers on May 17, 2018 at 5 – 8pm, at the Arts and Communication Academy, 11375 SW Center Street, Beaverton, Oregon.
